STATUS: Temporary/Seasonal- Non-exempt/On Call

Start date: October 15th, 2024- End date: April 30th, 2025

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Documented experience in public contact / Customer Service
- Documented experience in homeless services (or related experience).
- Strong Human relations skills; trauma-informed care

- Working knowledge of integrated database applications and/or ability to use new software programs with basic training
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Lead Shelter Staff oversees daily operations at the shelter, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff. This individual will lead the shelter team, coordinate services, manage resources, and serve as a point of contact for external partners. The Lead Shelter Staff ensures that shelter policies are followed and clients’ needs are met in a compassionate, organized, and efficient manner.
- Supervise shelter staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
- Handle conflict resolution and mediate staff and client concerns. Report as necessary to the Shelter Manager.
- Monitor inventory of shelter supplies and coordinate replenishment.
- Pre-Opening Preparation: Ensure all logistical aspects are in place, such as setting up the facility, arranging furniture, and stocking supplies.
- Transport any items needed to and from the Longview Salvation Army Corps building to the shelter. Prepare all dinner items for service.
- Team Briefing: Conduct meetings with staff and volunteers to review their roles, responsibilities, and emergency procedures.
- Coordination: Oversee the initial setup and ensure that all systems, including security, health and safety measures, and communication channels, are operational.
