Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing & Compliance

  • Process payroll for unionized and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including adjustments for hours worked, overtime, and deductions.
  • Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements to comply with wage scales, benefits, and union regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws while maintaining accurate and confidential payroll records.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to reconcile payroll discrepancies and provide payroll metrics.
  • Address employee inquiries related to payroll policies promptly and professionally.

System Management & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize payroll systems and workflows for greater efficiency.
  • Conduct routine audits to identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Update payroll processes in line with union agreements and out-of-jurisdiction work requirements.

Union Payroll Expertise

  • Maintain and update union wage package comparisons.
  • Process monthly union fringe reports and support trust fund audits.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to trust fund payments.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay informed about payroll regulations, industry trends, and labor laws.
  • Perform other assigned tasks to support the team while pursuing continuous learning opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of payroll experience with a focus on union payroll processes.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, Paycom, ADP); experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of collective bargaining agreements and labor laws.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements such as typing or filing.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
