Job Summary:

In this role, the Director, DevOps is responsible for leading and managing a group of engineers that are responsible for implementing automation solutions that help increase the speed of our ability to deliver features to production at SelectQuote. The Dir, DevOps manages the pipeline by which our application teams and pipeline managers engage with the infrastructure teams. This role is responsible for developing the configurations for foundational components to build our development environments, and provide guidance, oversight and direction for the projects and how we manage our infrastructure within the cloud.

Essential Functions:

• Build and lead highly skilled engineering teams from planning through execution. Create development plans, training agendas aligned to performance goals. Perform hiring, performance evaluations and ongoing development of policies and procedures.
• Establish and adhere to development scope and timelines in accordance to overall project and in line with SelectQuote-provided development tools and processes
• Ensures that we benchmark against associated services to keep service delivery and support at an appropriate cost.
• Provides end to end management and delivery of infrastructure services.
• Understands patterns and trends that contribute to utilizing key performance indicators and critical success factors that will improve the performance of the organization.
• Design and create scalable, automated solutions to service our customers and internal development team
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with business line stakeholder(s) and vendor partners on the technical solution development activities and deliverables
• Consult with business line stakeholder(s) and vendor partners in an analysis role
• Lead by example through demonstration of high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, team work, reliability, productivity, and execution

• High level of ownership and accountability for high-quality work, both personally and at a team level
• Resource allocation and management of multiple concurrent projects, some of which with competing priorities.
• language such as Ruby, Python, Java, C# or other languages
• Experience establishing and employing Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins or other CI tools
• Frequent and comfortable use of configuration management automation tools such as Ansible (or other such tools) in creating continuous delivery systems

Training & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
• 10 years of management experience required
• 6-8+ years of DevOps / Sysadmin Management (or related experience with an increasing set of responsibilities)
• Solid understanding of Javascript, Docker, Python, Bash, GitHub, Jenkins, and JIRA
• AWS Certified Associate (Solutions Architect, Sys Ops, Developer)
• 3-4 years successful engagements providing continuous delivery solutions, preferably employing AWS
• Minimum 4-6 years experience with Cloud Technologies
• At least 2-3 years of demonstrated programming capability in a high-level programming
