Corbion is seeking a Director of North American Fulfillment based in the Lenexa, KS office. The ideal candidate has the ability to function well in a fast-paced team environment, leading and coordinating across multiple functions including Operations, Commercial, Customer Service, Finance and Procurement. Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization are essential to success in this role. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for high-level supply planning, inventory management, inbound and outbound material transport, and warehousing/distribution activities in the US and Canada. You will work closely with Commercial and Operations to ensure the right products are at the right place at the right time and delivered to our customers with outstanding quality and service while continually driving top performance of the team, systems, and cost efficiency of the supply chain in working capital and operating costs. The supply chain activities of the manufacturing plants (production planning, scheduling & local warehouse operations) are outside the scope of this role, however, you will be responsible for identifying and standardizing supply chain best practices across all locations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects in supply planning and inventory control, material transport and logistics, and warehouse and distribution for the US and Canada as well as incoming material from other regions. Ensure finished goods are delivered to our customers with the highest quality and service while minimizing cost to serve and working capital.
- Provide daily coaching and direction to the teams in those departments (4 direct reports and 40 indirect reports).
- Guide efforts to optimize our raw material and finished goods inventories with an eye to reducing lead time, maximizing service and minimizing working capital. Support efforts to reduce scrapping of expiring materials and products.
- Identify and lead opportunities to improve coordination between the supply chain functions and Commercial teams including Customer Service, Demand Planning, Product Management and the Account Managers / Directors.
- Oversee efforts to improve our software systems and tools (TMS, S&OP, planning systems, SAP/EWM implementation).
- Manage third party and internal distribution centers. Optimize the distribution network to reduce ship-to delivery lead times and costs. Continuously strive to improve quality of delivery and service to delight our customers. Actively engage to ensure food safety and the safety of our workers is first and foremost at all times.
- Participate in the negotiation and contracting of all road and rail carrier contracts. Identify those with poor performance and provide alterative solutions to address issues.
- Analyze failures to ship on time in full. Work with stakeholders to implement preventive measures and improve our service to customers.
- Guide our teams to properly price our products, considering current and future freight rates.
- Develop and own operating cost budgets across all departments within the Supply Chain organization.
- Support our counterparts in the Global Logistics Teams by sharing best practices, synergies between regions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management or related field. An MBA and/or profession certification (PMP, CPM, APICS) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in an operations/supply chain role with at least 5 years in a senior role managing multiple supply chain disciplines which can include warehouse and distribution and/or inventory control, preferably from a food or food ingredient industry.
