RESPEC seeks a Senior Software Consultant for our Richardson, Texas, office. This is a temporary part-time position.

Job Description

At RESPEC, a software consultant is a solid, independent contributor responsible for the entire life cycle of projects within our Data & Technology Services business unit. Most of the projects are custom development using open-source frameworks. The position includes the following responsibilities:

• Writing efficient, secure, and high-quality code using a variety of programming languages, tools, and frameworks
• Implementing code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood
• Providing expert advice and an independent assessment of a client’s business and tech plans, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing solutions
• Working closely with clients and RESPEC project teams to understand their software requirements and business objectives
• Ensuring quality assurance testing is taking place with appropriate staff and clients
• Maintaining transparent communication with RESPEC leadership, project teams, and clients
• Adapting strategically to changing requirements, while working as a partner with RESPEC project management on scope and necessary change requests
• Keeping up with the latest software development trends, tools, and technologies, in addition to ensuring client code stays updated as projects necessitate
• Writing and reviewing design documentation and other developer pull requests and providing technical feedback as projects require
• Serving as a technology expert for RESPEC Business Development efforts and providing software development estimates when requested by RESPEC leadership

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

• Holds a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent educational background
• Has minimum of 10 years experience in software engineering
• Can be independently responsible for the entire life cycle of projects or features, including design, development, and deployment
• Is comfortable speaking directly with clients, gathering requirements, and demonstrating our products
• Has experience with the following technology:
  • Java Spring with Hibernate or C# .NET with Entity Framework or similar backend technology and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) 
  • Angular or React Frontend 
  • Relational Database (Oracle Database, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Global Information Tracker (GIT) for source code management
