About the role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Offshore Mechanical Project Lead for a role at our Houston, TX - Park Row Office. This person will be responsible for producing safe, technically accurate and cost-effective mechanical equipment designs and deliverables for offshore oil and gas production facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable specifications and standards and completing work within project budget and schedule.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.  Local candidates only please as there is no relocation assistance or per diem. 

  • Assist Project Management Team with development of the Project Execution Plan and train Mechanical team on requirements.
  • Develop and manage the project’s mechanical scope of work and deliverables list, including consistent templates for specifications, datasheets, document requirements, and inspection requirements
  • Develop and manage the project’s mechanical schedule (deliverables, equipment deliveries, vendor data, manpower loading, etc.), including progress/status reports; coordinate personnel staffing/destaffing accordingly
  • Develop and manage the project’s mechanical budget including management of change (change orders, trends, etc.)
  • Coordinate material handling, material selection, and utilities studies
  • Oversee the work of other Mechanical Engineering personnel.  Provide direction and guidance to the Mechanical Engineering Team.  Ensure consistency, quality, and timeliness of Mechanical discipline deliverables including technical oversight of the Engineering and Design checking effort as applicable to the discipline activities and deliverables
  • Coordination with other project disciplines
  • Develop and maintain project equipment specifications and data sheets
  • Prepare mechanical equipment cost and weight estimates, and technical requisitions for bid and purchase along with technical bid evaluations and purchase recommendations
  • Responsible for technical correctness of all mechanical documents produced
  • Attend necessary project meetings in order to communicate needs and share information with the discipline team
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • 20 years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with 10 of those years working as a mechanical lead on offshore oil and gas projects
  • Working knowledge of regionally applicable codes and standards (ABS/USCG, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, European Directives, BSEE, NACE, NFPA, NORSOK)
  • Offshore oil and gas experience required
  • Experience in requisitioning equipment packages 
  • Proficiency with MS Office products
  • Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer (Texas)
