The Director, Interoperability Workflow Integration reports to an Associate VP and is responsible for leading all aspects of Humana's workflow product portfolio as a digital product leader. This includes the strategic direction and implementation of solutions that directly support provider and member engagement at the point of care. This role oversees integration of products such as Point of Care Alerts, Patient Portals, Coverage Finder and Digital ID Card, Medical Authorization, plus others within EHRs and other provider facing technology. The Director partners with several departments (e.g., quality, risk adjustment, clinical, digital, IT, and product management) to ensure workflow solutions are interoperable and seamlessly embedded within provider-facing systems. This Leader enables and enhances the experience and outcomes for Humana's members and provider partners.

This is a remote position that will require onsite meetings in Louisville, KY quarterly, and as needed, to support the business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, development, and delivery of all workflow interoperability products, including point of care alerts, patient portals, medical authorizations, and related workflow solutions.
  • Oversee product management teams responsible for workflow innovation and execution, including leads focused on those products – including future workflow initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external technology partners to ensure products are interoperable, secure, and compliant with all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and technology partners for workflow product development and integration to scale and optimize products.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on measurements for workflow products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and organizational representative for workflow interoperability, participating in relevant internal and external forums.
  • Provide leadership and professional development to assigned team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Support budget planning and resource allocation for workflow product initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate implementation of workflow changes in response to regulatory, business, or technology updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum eight years of experience in digital product management, EHRs, digital health companies, or healthcare IT leadership.
  • Experience using healthcare interoperability standards, EHRs or their regulatory requirements (e.g., FHIR, HL7, API integration etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, versatile teams and large-scale transformation projects.
  • Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and partnership development, especially as it relates to provider facing applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree in related field
  • Experience in the design, delivery, and optimization of EHR solutions in healthcare environments, including clinical alerts, patient portals, and electronic medical authorizations.
  • Understanding of the commercial landscape around provider facing tools.

Work at Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
