About Skylo

Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. 

Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live across four continents, with more than 50 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. 

This role is located Mountain View, CA where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. 

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

Skylo Technologies is hiring a VP of People and Talent to join our team to lead the development of our people and talent operations and strategy. As Skylo experiences rapid growth and expansion, this individual will play a pivotal role in building upon our existing people and cultural foundation, ensuring that it remains strong and aligned with our company values as we scale. Additionally, this leader will be responsible for establishing robust and efficient processes that can support our growing workforce, developing our current leaders to reach their full potential, and spearheading our talent acquisition efforts to attract top-tier talent that will contribute to our continued success.

How You Will Contribute 

  • Strategic Engagement
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with business goals and fosters employee engagement.
    • Partner with leadership to identify, prioritize, and address organizational needs, including succession planning and leadership development.
    • Act as a culture champion, ensuring our values are embedded in everything from hiring to career development.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee HR policies, compliance, and reporting to ensure the company meets all legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Drive process improvement initiatives, leveraging data to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
    • Manage and optimize HR systems and tools to support a scaling organization.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Provide hands-on support to your team, including the Office Manager, HRBP, and Recruiting Team, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
    • Partner with the recruiting team to develop hiring strategies that attract top talent and ensure a seamless candidate experience.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management
    • Own the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to off boarding, with a focus on creating a best-in-class employee experience.
    • Design and implement programs to support employee development, performance management, and retention.
    • Lead employee relations efforts, acting as a trusted advisor to employees and management alike.

What We Look For 

  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success in a rapidly scaling startup environment.
  • Strong expertise in strategic HR initiatives, employee engagement, HR analytics, and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing a diverse team, including HRBP, recruiting, and office management functions.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and tools (e.g., Greenhouse, BambooHR, or similar platforms).
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to use analytics to inform decisions and measure success.
