Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking a Property Accountant I at its corporate headquarters in Juno Beach.  In this role you will be responsible for property accounting transactions related to Power Generation Assets, adding value through critical thinking and inter-personal skills. This position reports to the Regulated Property Accounting Lead for Power Generation and New Construction.

 

 The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of GAAP, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) rules as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of PowerPlan and SAP would be helpful but not required.  Attention to details and the ability to think independently is desired. 

 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Power Generation business units to ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Review and monitor capital projects in accordance with SOX
  • Responsible for month end close processes including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal reporting
  • Support monthly, quarterly & annual reporting and filing requirements (SEC, FERC, FPSC) 
  • Support ad hoc projects and/or process improvement activities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
•   Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
•   Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
•   Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
•  Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Master's - Business Administration
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
