Classroom Teaching Aide

Overview

Applications are now being accepted for classroom teaching aide positions at Edith Bowen Laboratory School. This position may include the following: Teaching Aide, RtI Teaching Aide, SPED Teaching Aide, SPED One on One Teaching Aide.

 

We prefer 6 hours a day but we are willing to work with your school schedule.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum Development: Customize lesson materials to cater to the unique requirements of individual students.

• Adaptive Teaching Assistance: Collaborate with lead educators to modify traditional teaching approaches, ensuring alignment with students' diverse learning needs.

• Small Group Facilitation: Assist students in smaller settings, specifically focusing on enhancing reading and math skills.

• Specialized Student Support: Provide additional assistance to students facing physical, mental, or linguistic challenges, employing tailored strategies for their progress.

• Progress Tracking: Maintain comprehensive records detailing students' advancements in both academic instruction and behavioral development.

• Assistive Technology Implementation: Aid students in utilizing assistive devices and supportive technologies for enhanced learning experiences.

• Specialized Instructional Tasks: Execute targeted activities to achieve set instructional and behavioral objectives.

• Behavioral Intervention Support: Collaborate with Special Education (SPED) teachers in implementing behavior modification techniques.

• IEP Program Implementation: Support the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) outlined for students, coordinating seamlessly with various educational specialists (e.g., resource specialists, occupational therapists, speech therapists).

• Classroom Safety and Assistance: Assist students with mobility requirements to ensure a secure classroom environment.

• Supervision and Intervention: Monitor students during activities and downtime, intervening promptly in case of any concerning situations.

• Curricular Adaptation: Modify classroom activities and assignments to align with class objectives while catering to individual student needs.

• Student Engagement and Support: Communicate effectively with students to assess their needs, ensuring their requirements are met efficiently.

• Equipment Handling: Operate various educational tools and equipment, including computers, printers, and laminators.

• Policy Adherence: Enforce school regulations and policies to maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.

• Personal Qualities: Demonstrate flexibility, eagerness to learn, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

• Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Undertake additional duties as assigned, contributing actively to the school's overall objectives and functions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience working in an elementary school setting.
• At least one year of experience working with RtI or SPED students (for certain aide positions).

Advertised Salary

Minimum $13.50 per hour; Commensurate with experience

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
