About the role

General Accountability:

Reporting to the Drilling Manager, the Drilling Superintendent will be responsible for assisting with the drilling and construction of the production wells and monitoring wells required for commercial production.  The Drilling Superintendent will ensure that the wells are drilled and constructed safely and to the required technical specifications and regulatory requirements.  The Drilling Superintendent will also ensure accurate data is collected from the field work and that this information is communicated in a timely manner to the appropriate parties.  The incumbent will accomplish these goals by overseeing the drilling team to manage the materials, supplies, personnel, and contractors required to develop the wells.  The incumbent will also liaise with the site safety, environmental, technical, and permitting teams to ensure that the drilling and construction meets all regulatory requirements and permit conditions.   Core Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with management of drilling and support contractors.  Ensure accurate tracking of activities against the contract terms, KPIs, and project schedule.
  • Assist with oversight of contractor coordination to ensure drilling and construction activities proceed efficiently and delays are minimized.
  • Work closely with operations personnel as needed to help ensure project status, technical details, and regulatory matters are communicated and well-coordinated. 
  • Help ensure all drilling work meets all safety program requirements and permit parameters. 
  • Assist with drilling and well construction activities that will meet and exceed quality standards and testing requirements.
  • Monitor necessary drilling materials and supplies inventory to keep work on schedule.
  • Supervise, direct, coach, and train as necessary the drilling team, including direct and indirect reports.

 

 Experience:
  • 6 plus years of drilling and well construction experience in a senior role.
  • Experience with geological and hydrological modelling and interpretation.
  • Experience with a wide range of geophysical logs, geological contacts, and cement bond logs. 
  • Experience with drilling mud program design, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with state and federal well permitting including exposure to Class I, II, or III wells.
