Job Description

The internship starts in September 2023, and is for a period of 5-6 months. 

To start with, the position of “AI Demand forecasting Intern” sits comfortably in the Global Supply Chain team. An incredible diverse team that helps each other learn, grow and develop. Just how we like it!

And as an AI forecaster you will be asked to support the roll out of advanced statistics/Artificial intelligence to create a demand sales forecast. The role supports the implementation of a SaaS (Software as a Service) demand forecast tool for several local market teams in JDE. Focusing on data preparation, time series modelling and change management of AI forecast technology implementation. In other words; a combination of the people, tool and process impacts that come with the move from ‘judgement based’ to AI forecasting.

For this, we don’t just need you to be a knowledgeable professional but also strongly rely on your interpersonal skills as well as your drive for success. Know that you’ll have a crucial role in creating and protecting the impact we look for in our value chain.

With this said we like you to take responsibility over the following tasks:

• Data preparation & cleaning
• Set up a predictive analytics model for demand forecasting using SaaS forecast solution
• Measure Forecast accuracy, Forecast value add & Efficiency improvements
• Supporting testing, training & change management

We do, of course, take into consideration how much experience you have with data engineering and AI/ML but ultimately we look at the bigger picture. To give you a bit of guidance as to what we feel is needed in this role, we’ll share our “nice to have” list with you:

• Analytical skills; making sense of large datasets
• (Demand) forecasting & time series modeling
• Data processing and analyzing with Excel, PowerBI & Data Bricks
• Project management

Important: To be considered as a candidate for this internship, 

• EU/EEA students: you need to be enrolled at a University for the whole duration of the internship and this needs to be a mandatory part of your study curriculum. In case of voluntarily internship purpose, a tri-parties agreement may be requested to be signed by you and your university. 
• Non-EU/EEA students: you need to be enrolled at a Dutch University and your university needs to sign the Nuffic Agreement. The internship needs to be a compulsory part of your studies (eg, receive ECTS in turn).
