Summary

We are seeking an entry-level Survey Assistant to work with our Survey team in the Orlando area.

Essential Functions

• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles.

• Prepare field notes and drawings.

• Perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.

Work Environment                                                                                                          

This is field based role. The employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands                                                                                                                     

The position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimb coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require extended hours and weekend work. Average +/-50 hours per week.

Travel                                                                                                                      

The role requires no travel.

Required Education and Experience

• 2 years of experience is preferred.

• Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment

• Must be reliable/have reliable transportation

Preferred Education and Experience

• Construction industry experience preferred

• Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently

Additional Eligibility Requirements

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license before employment.
