Housed in the UT Austin Department of Computer Science, Computer and Data Science Online (CDSO) administers an innovative suite of at-scale online Master’s degree programs offered by the University of Texas at Austin. CDSO’s online programs currently include the Master of Computer Science (MSCS), the Master of Data Science (MSDS), and Master in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI). (Note: the MSDS program is a joint effort between the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Statistics and Data Science). Priced affordably, built flexibly to accommodate working professionals, and scaled to educate thousands, these programs extend the promise of advanced technical education to a wide and diverse student population.

Purpose

Reporting to the CDSO Director for Online Programs, the Online Learning Manager will coordinate and manage partnerships with CDSO’s teaching faculty and act as a primary point of coordination and contact for most of CDSO’s academic operations. They will also lead continuous improvements to CDSO’s courses, tools, and delivery structure to help ensure the CDSO’s programs remain at the forefront of high-quality affordable at-scale graduate education in computer and data science.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Computer and Data Science Online (CDSO) team’s communications with teaching faculty for all programs regarding course scheduling, pre-semester course preparation, TA assignments, technology needs, platform support and other instruction-related inquiries. Develop static resources to orient current and new teaching faculty to the online programs suite and online teaching.
• Create course runs, add TAs and instructors to courses, set up discussion boards and LTI tools, and support instructors with content and date changes where needed. Manage tools integration across platforms for online courses.
• Oversee recruitment, appointment, training/on-boarding and support for Learning Facilitators (online course assistants).
• Partner with UT’s Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) in the planning and design of new online courses (content and assessment), as well as major updates of current online courses within the online programs suite.
• Administer and manage surveys and other forms of instructional data-gathering for the CDSO suite. Utilize Salesforce and other tools to report and analyze instructional data for various program stakeholders; make data-informed recommendations to increase program effectiveness and increase student success.
• Research best practices for adult online learning. Manage process(es) of continuous improvement throughout the team’s instructional operations, from course design and features to Learning Facilitator training.
• Assist CDSO team staff as needed with registration, admission and other core administrative functions. Work with academic staff in CS and SDS departments to project, plan and schedule future semesters and course runs, and to list upcoming courses with UT Registrar.
• Assist in development of student focused resources, including webinars, orientations, graduation videos and occasional on-campus events. Represent CDSO and its programs at campus events and conferences.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• 3-5 years of post-secondary teaching or TA experience
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with university teaching faculty on instruction or instructional-related projects
• Experience with online learning platforms and tools
• Familiarity with adult-learning and instructional design principles and approaches
• Ability to effectively collaborate with and support teaching faculty
• Ability to interpret and use data to foster course and program improvements
• Ability to design and present multimedia training materials
• Understan
