Program Director for Global Health Partnerships

DGHI is seeking to hire a Program director to oversee its growing network of international and domestic partnerships. The Program Director will provide administrative and strategic support in consultation with DGHI leadership, including managing and coordinating financial development and administration, special program development and implementation, budgeting and oversight.

Work Performed

• Assist DGHI leadership in developing and implementing the Institute’s international strategic priorities;
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with faculty members to determine program objectives and to identify internal and external resources available to meet those objectives.
• Foster and grow partnership networks
  • Including strategic planning/organizing of international meetings
  • Creating opportunities for Duke faculty to invest more time in partnerships
  • Support existing and recruit new faculty champions to lead collaboration building with our partners
• Identify potential research, education or community engagement opportunities at current partnership locations to grow multi-disciplinary collaborations
• Develop plans for long term sustainability of partnership locations, including capacity building, in close consultation with leaders of partner institutions and DGHI faculty;
• Work closely with Duke Schools and Departments (especially Office of Global Affairs and International RASR) to collaborate, coordinate efforts and identify solutions/best practices for supporting partnerships.
  • Including sensitizing Duke leadership and administration about DGHI’s partnerships and accomplishments as well as the unique challenges that our international partnerships face
• Prepare and facilitate regular update meetings with DGHI staff and faculty and the DGHI International Partnerships Committee to increase communication and information sharing;
• Identify funding sources for international sites development, including capacity building, and participate in preparation of grant proposals
• Maintain and cultivate mutually constructive relationships between DGHI and the leadership of DGHIs international partners (academic institutions, health institutions, NGOs);
• Represent DGHI in meetings held at partnership locations where potential collaboration and commitments would be discussed and negotiated;
• Work with the education team to create opportunities for bilateral exchange and collaborative education activities. Ensure that education/training is centered in our partnerships as appropriate.
• Work with the development team to create opportunities for dissemination of DGHIs activities and cultivation of relationships with (potential) donors
• Recommend and oversee core expenditures of DGHI’s financial commitment at partnership locations, including;
  • develop RFAs for capacity building, partnership priorities and strategic growth
