About this role:
Serves as Championship Director for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship and U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Responsibilities include host site coordination, financial oversight, volunteer management, operational logistics, and administration of competition-related functions. Supports USGA-wide Amateur Championship initiatives and contributes to other championships as assigned.

What you’ll do:

Championship Director for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship:
• Organize & coordinate all aspects of the Championship including course set-up, future site evaluation, Rules, budget, etc.
• Serve as main contact for the Host Committee and assist with administrative details, including preparation of Hosting Manual for each site.
• Work with Regional Affairs on the annual review of the National Committee members attending said championship.
• Work closely with Manager, Championships on all administrative support matters, including mailings, shipping of supplies for Championship, gifts, etc.
• Work with Championship Administration to ensure accuracy of entry application, qualifying information, pairings and other administrative details as necessary.
• Work with Media Relations staff on publicity for the Championship and any relevant press releases.
• Oversee preparation and management of vendor agreements (hotels, etc.).

Championship Director for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship:
• Organize & coordinate all aspects of the Championship including course set-up, future site evaluation, Rules, budget, etc.
• Serve as main contact for the Host Committee and assist with administrative details, including preparation of Hosting Manual for each site.
• Work with Regional Affairs on the annual review of the National Committee members attending said championship.
• Work closely with Manager, Championships on all administrative support matters, including mailings, shipping of supplies for Championship, gifts, etc.
• Work with Championship Administration to ensure accuracy of entry application, qualifying information, pairings and other administrative details as necessary.
• Work with Communications staff on publicity for the Championship and any relevant press releases.
• Oversee preparation and management of vendor agreements (hotels, etc.).
• Assist the Future Sites Committee as needed, including advisement on determining suitability of golf clubs to host future USGA championships.

Assist in the conduct of other USGA Championships as assigned. Duties may include:
• Course marking
• Course set-up
• Serving as a Rules official

Where you’ll be:
• This role will be based at our Pinehurst, NC campus, with required travel to rotating host sites for the planning and conduct of championships. Anticipated travel is approximately 90-100 days per year.

What you bring to the USGA:
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Advanced experience in golf tournament administration or event operations (preferred at national, state, or regional level)
• Expert certification in the Rules of Golf (score of 90 or higher on PGA/USGA Rules Exam every 4 years)
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Unquestioned character and integrity
• Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and drive complex logistical plans
• High attention to detail and organizational discipline
• Skilled in Microsoft Office; familiarity with modern business technologies and registration platforms

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000
The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000. This range represents what we reasonably expect to pay as starting base compensation for this role. Compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and relevant certifications.
