Towson University is a Division I member of the Coastal Athletics Association and is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach, Diving. This position, under the direction of the head coach, teaches and provides instruction in the sport of diving and assists in the planning, promotion, and administration of a quality Division I Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving program.
Responsibilities and Duties
Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Swim Coach (Diving) include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provides skill instruction for student athletes, which includes independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of athletes
- Under the direction of the head coach, recruits and evaluates prospective student-athletes through the use of New Media Technologies; organizes official visits, including assigning hosts; creates travel itineraries and manages all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations; and tracks all admissions through the application process of our prospective student-athletes
- Assists with academic support, fundraising activities, and community servicing, including communication and outreach to alumni; coordinates with the Life Skills Program Director and tracks and maintains accurate records of all student-athlete participation in Life Skills programs; assists in all Meet Day operations including travel, bus, hotel, and restaurant plans; issues equipment as directed by the head coach
- Adheres to NCAA rules
- Completes monthly CARA logs, recruiting logs, and other end-of-year summaries and correspondence within ARMS and in coordination with the Office of Compliance Services
- Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach
This position will work 32 hours per week. The work hours for this position include weekends, as required by practice and/or competitions. Travel is required.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Collegiate and/or senior level club coaching experience
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification must be obtained within the first three months of employment
- Lifeguard Training and Coaches Safety Training must be obtained within the first three months of employment
- Knowledge of NCAA rules
- Ability to develop and implement a season long plan for a group of student-athletes
- Ability to recruit potential student-athle
