Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Assistant Construction Project Manager in Coral Gables, Florida. 

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in broad range of activities associated with pre-design, design, pre-construction, construction (including all phasing), closeout, occupancy, and warranty.
  • Assists in enforcement of multiple complex and multi-faceted new construction, renovations, and modernization projects.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and reports the project management activities of multiple projects with regard to educational facilities.
  • Coordinates/assists in all aspects of project activities with Capital Improvements staff, other M-DCPS departments, school staff, and other administrative personnel.
  • Assist as project liaison on all matters related to project design, construction, and closeout.
  • Assists in the collection, preparation, input, and management of project tracking software for multiple projects.
  • Assists in other duties and responsibilities that may be required as it relates to project management.
  • Under moderate supervision assists the Project Management team with management administration following set guidelines for completion of tasks.
  • Employee receives moderate to limited supervision working from objectives set by supervisor. Employee organizes and carries out most assignments in accordance with standard practices, instructions, or previous training. Employee handles some unusual situations independently.  
  • May interact with Superintendents to address project questions/issues.
  • Assists with and monitors change orders.
  • May assist with regulatory compliance and financial reporting.
  • Review project costs and scheduling to ensure completion of project within budget and in conformance with contract.
  • Work with document control systems, project management systems and other software or databases to keep information flow up-to-date and accurate.
  • Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 2 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • One year experience in project coordination of commercial and/or public facilities 
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background checks
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Strong management and communications skills and negotiation skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or other related field. Educational degree can count towards actual work experience requirement
  • Familiarity with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF)
  • One year of experience performing coordination of construction commercial and/or public facilities
