About the role

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).  Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy.  Our VISION is to be the user site of choice for large-scale, high-hazard, national security experimentation, with premier facilities and capabilities below ground, on the ground, and in the air. The Security & Emergency Services Material Planning & Control Specialist II will be responsible for managing orders for the Security & Emergency Services (SES) Senior Directorate and provide Maximo system data support. The SES Directorate includes Mission Response, Program Planning & Assurance, Security, Cyber & Physical Security. The primary reporting location will be D-01 at the North Las Vegas Facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administers assigned requisitions by:
    • Providing company requisitioning support (initiating/preparing & processing) including helping establish adequate lead time based on job/project priorities and material availability.
    • Arranging internal material transfers to meet job/project schedules.
    • Coordinating material schedules with requesting organizations for timely delivery.
    • Compiling and maintaining records and providing status updates on requisitioned materials.
    • Expediting material flow from order placement through delivery.
    • Collaborating with departments/organizations to ensure efficient material movement and transport.
    • Verifying material deliveries conform to requested specifications with end-users.
    • Coordinating with other departments to ensure receipt and accountability of all purchased materials.
    • Updating purchasing information in company software programs.
  • Coordinate material or property disposal activities in assistance with the property management organization.
  • Over see assigned Classification Codes, including assisting with data entry and report generation.
  • Participate in management assessments.
  • Perform assigned tasks under supervision, exercising independent judgment consistent with skill development as determined by the supervisor.

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in field or equivalent training and 2 years relevant experience in purchasing material control and planning.
  • Prefer experience with preparing and processing purchase requisitions.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially Access and Word.
  • Experience with scheduling and setting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to track data for reports and metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate (oral and written) in a professional positive manner with all levels of employees, customers, vendors and management during very busy and frequent stressful situations.
  • Ability to execute work, analyze information, problem solve, and enforce property control procedures.
  • Ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with policies, procedures, government laws, rules, and regulations, or standards.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. 
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive
