International Labor Research Analyst (Part-time)

ICF is seeking an International Labor Research Analyst to support research, policy, and administrative activities for our client at the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). This is an on-call remote position.
The Team
The International Labor & Migration team at ICF helps clients identify, document, measure, and address human rights violations and labor exploitation through mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative research, and data collection across countries and industries.
The Work
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking (OCFT)’s annual publication of the Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labor, otherwise known as the TDA report. The international labor research analyst will be conducting fact-checking, technical edits and copy edits of this year’s TDA report. The work will be done on USDOL laptops and within USDOL’s custom SharePoint system. All researchers must first complete security clearance forms and complete the security process. The position may be part time on-call and work will be done remotely. The analyst has an option to work up to full time depending on the analyst’s availability and the number of country profiles assigned. It is estimated the job will last from mid-January 2025 to the end of April 2025. Candidates with suitable background who do well on this task will also be considered for subsequent tasks, if interested.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing text and data in SharePoint according to strict USDOL guidelines (USDOL and ICF will provide training and written guidance).
- Fact-checking sources used against the citations in the TDA report to ensure accuracy and adherence to the TDA guides.
- Learning to use the USDOL SharePoint system and entering all comments and edits into that system.
- Completing fact-checking and technical edit for each assigned country report in a timely manner.
- Communicating orally and in writing in English.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, international trade, public policy, economics, international development, political science, or liberal arts and relevant experience
- 1+ years of experience in conducting desk research and editing on topics related to human rights, child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.
- 2+ years of experience using Word, Excel, Adobe PDFs, and SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese
