Job Description Summary

The Senior Accountant will support the financial close processes for the US, Cushman & Wakefield’s largest and most profitable region. He/she will own contract review preparation for the NonBrokerage service lines, specific areas of the close, and be a be a key resource to other groups within the organization. This role will have the opportunity to learn steady state processes and have a voice in recommending new redesigns or improvements due to the merger of Cushman & Wakefield’s legacy firms, new financial system conversions and outsourced Finance Service Center (FSC) activities managed by Accenture. This person will also be a change agent to help the Company’s controllership function prepare for public company readiness and assist with accounting for acquisitions. He/she will contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust controls environment for the operations and compliance with GAAP and Company accounting policies.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own the contract review preparation for the NonBrokerage Controllership Service Lines
  • Join with the Controllership team in partnering with FP&A and other stakeholders to drive effective coordination and communication throughout the monthly close process
  • Perform regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competency
  • Establish appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions, and reporting
  • Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries to the general ledger for Cushman & Wakefield ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Listen, analyze and work with other functions to propose entries that need to be made in areas where judgement is required.
  • Research and respond to internal and external accounting/financial questions and resolve issues
  • Assist in ensuring key internal controls and effective accounting policies are in place. 
  • Effectively utilize the Company’s financial reporting tools (Workday, Salesforce, AS400, Peoplesoft, and HFM) to improve the efficiency of the monthly close processes
  • Be an enthusiastic ambassador of the company culture to support the continued integration of the legacy firms

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years in accounting roles, preferably with financial close experience
  • Strong knowledge of ERP’s and database software packages Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Effective and efficient time management and organization skills
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed individual who is comfortable working in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be comfortable explaining accounting concepts to people with non-financial backgrounds
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high initiative, flexibility and team approach to work

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Real estate industry experience
  • Public Accounting experience

 

Physical Requirements

  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
