Job Description
The Director of Finance & Business Analysis and Operational Support, West Coast oversees and monitors all activities of the data analytics and data warehousing as it relates to Hotel Operational Finance for the US and Canada and will join us home based in California, preferably in or around L.A., San Diego or San Francisco. The position will be embedded in the California region and support the Vice President Finance, US and Puerto Rico, for the West Coast Hotels in the Fairmont portfolio, in collaboration and partnering with the regional discipline leads and the Vice President Operations. The position may require travel to the hotels and assistance in rolling out of projects, performance monitoring, ROI analysis, cash flow, operational and financial audits, as well as act as a temporary resource in the hotels in case of key vacancy in the finance discipline leadership position, at a director’s level.
This position will be involved in multiple type of projects for the region and the Accor group and requires the ability to understand Hotel Operational Finance projects, development projects and/or management agreement articulation and key terms.
The individual will coordinate an appropriate analytical approach and methodology in addressing key issues within the business with the senior leadership team. Leads the Hotel Finance data analytics and data warehousing teams in implementation of appropriate data systems, as recommended or mandated by Accor, Fairmont and Raffles leadership that lead to improved business performance and achievement of overall business goals. Also responsible for driving departmental culture and promoting data-driven decision-making, across the business.
Qualifications
Works closely with the senior leadership to guarantee the delivery of high-quality execution of the diverse array of project deliverables. In this collaboration, also participates in the formulation of data-driven business decisions (how, where, when, which channels, and so forth) and demonstrates delivery against the business’ overall objectives
Develops analysis and interpretation of financial data within the AMERICAS region and communicates this in a comprehensible form of meaningful variations in the operations. The analysis of the P&L accounts, Key Business Indicators, Key Performance Indicators and balance sheet accounts, HMA compliance and Fees calculation, on a selected basis and the review and analysis of the monthly internal benchmarking and operational performance analysis reports.
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget, particularly for the:
• Analyze financial outlooks and financial forecasts
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions
• Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
Conduct regular checks on procedures for purchasing, receiving, storing, issuing, food preparing and portioning
Provides management visibility into data-driven insights that inform the business’s strategic direction and KPI’s
Develops and establishes effective platforms for generating dynamic analysis related to financial planning as well as key business and performance indicators. Develops full understanding of platforms being used (i.e. Sun, OneStream, IBP, etc.) essentially being a subject matter expert in this area.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in a related fields/disciplines such as Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, Applied Math, Business Administration, etc. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for the position.
• Accounting Designation, bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Finance, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• 5+ years progressive work-related experience in multiple areas of accounting and/or capital projects management and reporting, financial and/or business analysis, accounting, merger/acqu
