Bevel Operator

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Bevel Operator in the Tulsa, OK facility. The Bevel Operator performs advanced production activities requiring a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency in material handling, production processes and multiple machine operation acquired through extended experience and training.

• Chooses correct material for the burning job according to work order
• Sets up machine track, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed rates
• Positions work pieces for processing (may operate a combination of different machines)
• Uses gauges, calipers, squares or rulers for measurement
• Determines processing specifications such as materials, burning tips, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequences
• Reviews blue prints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications
• Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand tools
• Adjusts controls to set depth and feed rates
• Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections
• Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine
• Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation
• Restocks material
• May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing
• May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety, and policy manuals)
• Measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges, or micrometer
• Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
• Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator
• Must be proficient in the use of hand tools including grinder
• Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
• Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP
• Must be organized with attention to detail
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Physical Requirements:

In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, lifting work pieces weighing up to forty (40) lbs. manually or by crane to work area and positioning it for processing the orders.

 

Working Conditions:

Employee will work in an open warehouse the majority (98%) of the time and will be exposed to some or all of the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, ultra-violet light (produced from machine and requiring darkened safety glasses), oils and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes and metallic particles.
