Job Description

As Sr Program Manager of R&D, you will manage new product development and sustaining activities across a complex Infusion Platform(s) within our MMS R&D Global organization. As a key strategic and technical leader, you will lead a number of core teams that drive business growth, primarily through sustaining products, while collaborating with peer leaders across the organization. Work will include managing on-market product activity that drive sustainable growth within the MMS Infusion business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Projects for New Product Development and Sustaining projects, drive timelines to release and aligning with overall company portfolio strategy.  

  • Applies extensive technical expertise & has full knowledge of related disciplines.  Develops technical and business process solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. In partnership with the Infusion platform and core team members, leads the development and commercialization, go to market and launch strategy for the New Product Development and Sustaining project(s).

  • Represents the organization as the prime contact for projects.  Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between functions

  • Ensuring R&D projects directly support overall company objectives, products, and market opportunities

  • Leading teams in engineering, marketing, operations, regulatory and quality to execute plans

  • Proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks for on-market products

  • Acting as a key liaison, providing updates, and influencing decisions

  • Define resource needs for programs, align them with business priorities, and create detailed plans with timelines, tasks, and dependencies

  • Support engineering staffing and resource allocation

  • Implement best-in-class R&D tools, processes, and standards

  • Develop comprehensive project plans and timelines aligned with business priorities

  • Drive innovative problem resolution at an accelerated pace

  • Collaborate with functional leaders to assign engineering resources for portfolio goals

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering field required (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, or Software preferred)

  • 5 years of experience working in the Medical Device industry required.  

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Highly motivated, dynamic leader who thrives in a challenging and changing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and ambiguity to drive clarity and deliver results.

  • Ability to lead complex programs in partnership with matrix organizations and external suppliers

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  • PMP preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) required, experience in Smartsheet preferred

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Business acuity and customer-centric approach

  • Willingness to travel 10-20% (domestic and international)

  • Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and potentially ERP/Project Management software (like SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an engineering or science discipline

  • Experience with proven design processes (e.g., DFSS) across multiple programs

  • Experience leading global teams

  • Experience in medical device industry

  • Direct regulatory experience with 60601-1 and -2

  • Experience in TeamCenter and/or Polarian preferred
