SUPERVISOR:
ECS Director or designee.
SUMMARY:
Plans and implements the child care program, supervises staff. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on academic year.
1. Completes requirements for the child care licensing; follows and enforces Rules Regulating Child Care Centers.
2. Follows and enforces procedures as stated in the ECS Procedures Manual.
3. Manages and directs child care program.
4. Supervises child care program staff.
5. Demonstrates excellent communication with parents, students, school and district staff and coworkers.
6. Follows district policies and goals and uses district facilities with care.
7. Attends monthly meetings with building principal to discuss financial and program information.
8. May oversee accurate financial records in accordance with district procedure.
9. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational Requirements - All accepted college coursework grades must be a “C” or better:
The director must have completed at least one of the following qualifications and obtain an Official Large Center Director Qualification verification letter from the Division of Early Care and Learning:
A (1) A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from a regionally accredited Colorado college or university are considered fully director qualified.
2. Master’s degree with a major emphasis in child development, early childhood education, or early childhood special education from a regionally accredited Colorado college or university are considered fully director qualified.
3. A current early childhood professional Credential Level IV Version 2.0 as determined by the Colorado Department of Education are considered fully director qualified.
4. Completion of all of the following three (3) semester hour courses from a regionally accredited college or university, at either a two (2) year, four (4) year or graduate level courses, must be completed in each of the following subject or content areas listed below. Must have twenty-four (24) months (3,640 hours) of verified experience working directly with children in a child development program.
Introduction to Early Childhood Professions;
Introduction to Early Childhood Lab Techniques;
Early Childhood Guidance Strategies or Pyramid Plus Approach Training (certificate)
Infant/Toddler Theory and Practice or Expanding Quality Infant/Toddler Training (certificate)
Early childhood Health, Nutrition, and Safety;
Early Childhood Curriculum Development
Early Childhood Growth and Development;
Administration of Early Childhood Care and Education Programs
Administration: Human Relations for Early Childhood Professions or Introduction to Business
The Exceptional Child
Persons with a 2-year college degree in early childhood education must have twelve (12) months (1,820 hours) of verified experience working directly with children in a child development program.
Persons with a Bachelor’s degree and completion of courses specified in Sections 7.702.42, A, 3, a-j, must have twelve (12) months (1,820 hours) of verified experience working directly with children in a child development program.
Persons who have no degree but have completed the thirty (30) semester hours specified in section 7.702.42, A, 3, a-j, must have twenty-four (24) months (3,640) of verified experience working directly with children in a child development program.
Experience Requirements - The experience requirements for the director of a large center must be met by completion of the following amount of work experience in a child development program, which includes working with a group of children in such programs as preschool, child care center, kindergarten, or Head Start program.
Experience in a paid child care program, any para-educator experience, or any licen
