Salary/Position Classification

  • $20.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 6-10 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Aid professor with laboratory analysis of a sediment core along with correlated tasks in the laboratory
  • Assist with research literature and writing tasks
  • Complete information searches and database compilations
  • Add data and check existing database entries
  • Work with professor on sediment analysis in laboratory
  • Proof read documents
  • Organize research material
  • Other research tasks as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Chester Fritz databases, literature searches, and internet search engines
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Sediment analysis experience
  • Available during normal work hours
  • Undergraduate student
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 1 credit for the employed academic semester
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has successfully completed two or more Anthropology courses at UND
  • Research Experience (laboratory and/or field experience)
  • Graduating in Fall 2025 or later
