About the role

Description


A low voltage Project Designer/Engineer is a strong technical designer/engineer that can work independently to take portions of technology systems projects from start to finish. They ensure that projects are designed and documented according to the parameters set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Design

  • Performs routine code review and analysis.
  • Performs routine design calculations and sizes standard equipment.
  • Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Follows company master design standards.
  • Ensures that the QA/QC process is followed and documented.
  • Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices.

Training

  • Directs less experienced technical staff in how to perform routine design tasks and routine calculations.
  • Trains EIT’s and designers how to perform routine calculations and system layouts.
  • Trains less experienced staff how to use master design tools and standards.

Project Documentation

  • Works independently to produce all phases of project documentation, including the schematic design level documents, based on direction from the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Creates project specific details, schematics, and sketches.
  • Assembles specifications, including project specific information.
  • Maintains a well-organized workspace and electronic filing process.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology Engineering from an accredited university/college or associates degree from an accredited technical institution in the engineering design systems and demonstrated relevant experience.
  • RCDD certification highly preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Previous experience designing low voltage systems that include audio visual, telecommunications and security systems.

  • Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD
