Job Summary: Responsible for monitoring each shipment to make sure that outgoing packages are packed correctly and accurately, maintaining shipping records, preparing invoices, and computing freight cost.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies accuracy of orders by matching them with quantities and types.
- Ensures that serial and batch numbers match the product.
- Reports and replaces any defective item prior to packaging.
- Estimates weight and uses the information to calculate the cost of shipping.
- Prepares invoices and delivery orders.
- Determines method of shipment by utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, rates, and routes.
- Ensures that all transactions are recorded in company database.
- Ensures posting of outbound deliveries using pre-designated software.
- Processes customers’ orders by ensuring that the right shipment is on its way.
- Prepares and pastes labels on shipments.
- Ensures that items are properly packed and labeled.
- Handles outgoing shipments by checking them physically.
- Keeps and verifies records on outgoing shipments.
- Makes sure that items are loaded onto shipment vehicle in safe and timely manner.
- Maintains shipping database, prepares routine reports, and files shipping records.
- Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments and initiates proof of delivery documents
- Prepares and packages material design to be shipped on pallets for freight shipments.
- Working close with the Accounting Department to determine and address all questions related to international shipments for example: broker house, handling and shipping fees, duty cost etc.
- Maintains and organizes adequate shipping supplies.
- Keeps work station and area clean.
- Assists in other areas as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
- Works closely with the carriers on shipping procedures and processes.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
