We are looking for a Jr. Software Database Engineer to join us as we build cutting-edge technology solutions! This is your opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to delivering best in class service to our customers.
In this role, you will work closely with senior database and performance engineers to validate SQL performance across new hardware platforms and software releases. You’ll contribute to long-running performance initiatives focused on regression detection, diagnostics, and performance stability. Your day-to-day work will involve running performance tests, analyzing results, identifying regressions, and collaborating with development teams to investigate and resolve issues.
You’ll participate in regular scrum check-ins to provide progress updates, receive new assignments, and surface blockers. This role offers hands-on exposure to SQL internals, performance engineering, cloud environments, and low-level system behavior, all within a highly collaborative and structured engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
- Execute SQL performance tests on new hardware platforms and software releases
- Analyze performance data to identify regressions, anomalies, and stability concerns
- Perform diagnostics and root-cause analysis on performance issues
- Generate clear reports and summaries of test results and findings
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools using C, C#, and/or PowerShell to support testing and analysis
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and developers to investigate issues and validate fixes
- Follow established testing methodologies and engineering standards
- Participate in daily or twice-daily scrum meetings to provide updates and receive guidance
- Apply systematic problem-solving approaches to technical challenges in a large-scale environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- Foundational knowledge of computer science concepts and operating systems
- Programming experience with one or more of the following: C, C#, PowerShell
- Experience working in Windows-based environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively
- Ability to follow structured processes, take direction, and show measurable progress on assigned tasks
- 0–2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent hands-on technical training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to SQL performance testing, diagnostics, or query optimization
- Familiarity with performance analysis concepts such as latency, throughput, bottlenecks, and regressions
- Experience working with large-scale or enterprise systems
- Exposure to cloud platforms or distributed systems
- Experience working in agile or scrum-based development environments
- Interest in low-level system behavior, processor technology, or performance engineering
- Advanced degree in a related technical field (preferred but not required)
