Senior Linux Administrator - Hybrid

We are seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to join Q² Solutions, IQVIA’s laboratory business in Durham, NC.

As a Senior Linux Administrator, you will assist with the development and implementation of an enterprise architecture that supports future IQVIA systems, products, and platforms, and satisfies our business product strategy.

What You’ll be Doing:

• Administering multi-vendor, multi-site, HPC Linux servers in a multi-PB storage environment with over 2000 processing cores.
• Supporting R&D and production efforts of a bioinformatics team creating and managing next-gen sequencing data.
• Managing continual automation of cluster status, maintenance, and pipeline status processes in an evolving HPC environment.
• Managing both on-prem and AWS cloud services in regulated and unregulated environments.
• Assisting with the ongoing development and implementation of an enterprise architecture.
• Participating in cross-functional product development teams and providing system and technical advice.

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in software and/or product development with a focus on architecture.
• Expert knowledge of Linux systems, especially Ubuntu, CentOS, and related file systems.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash or other fairly common scripting languages.
• Other equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed for This Role:

• Excellent knowledge of networking and cluster-based distributed computing.
• Working knowledge of Salt, and/or Slurm preferred.
• Working knowledge of Docker Containers.
• Ability to deploy computer software, both open-source and internally developed.
• Good written and oral communication skills, ability to document work in wikis.
• Effective problem-solving skills.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $108,800.00 - $181,300.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
