What you’ll do:
- Design, administer, and optimize PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters and support containerized database and application operations.
- Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery.
- Perform database performance tuning, backups, replication, and recovery.
- Enforce access controls, auditing, governance, and retention policies.
- Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and permissions.
- Develop SQL queries and reporting logic; support Power BI reporting needs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborative delivery activities.
- Support production operations with urgency and operational discipline.
- Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong customer trust through technical expertise, responsiveness, and reliability.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years as a database engineer with significant PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server experience.
- Kubernetes administration experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in performance tuning, backups, replication, recovery, and securing databases in regulated environments.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Crunchy Data, and pgEdge.
- Required certification: EDB Certified PostgreSQL Associate or Professional or equivalent expertise.
- Possess a DoD 8140 DCWF Role of 421 – Database Administrator with certifications such as Cloud+, GSEC, Security+, or SSCP.
- Ability to contribute immediately.
- Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
SALARY RANGE: $170,000 - $239,000
The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
- The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
- The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
- Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
- This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
- Performance-based bonuses
- Company-paid training and/or certifications
- Referral bonuses
