Principal Associate, Accounting Systems

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Controllers Group as a Principal Associate  with a focus on project execution. You will execute on high priority projects for the company in support of our strategy and vision.  Your responsibilities will be linked to the planning, coordination and implementation of changes across Controllers Group resulting from implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

You will have the ability to support the design of our future accounting and financial reporting processes and systems along with upstream and downstream processes including line of business and Financial Planning & Analysis dependencies.  Effective execution of these processes is essential for reporting correct financial information to our executives, regulators, and investors. Throughout this project, you will need to apply integrative thinking to complex situations, and identify issues and propose solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Understand financial system value stream

• Gather and document requirements related to system configuration changes

• Administer system configuration changes

• Develop test cases, perform test execution, and lead test calls

• Participate in peer review meetings to ensure adherence to best practices and standards  

• Recommend changes or modifications to the existing processes and standards

• Maintain up-to-date understanding of current and future state processes that impact General Ledger and financial reporting. This includes activities, risks and issues, assumptions and dependencies

• Agile performer duties and responsibilities required by Capital One

  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

• At least 3 years experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Audit, or a Combination 

• At least 1 years of Financial Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

• At least 1 year of experience in financial services industry

• At least 3 years of experience with Financial Systems such as Workday, Workiva, or a similar system 

• At least 1 year of experience in performing Accounting Month End Close, SEC Financial Reporting Process, or a combination

• At least 1 year of experience with QuickSight, Tableau, Looker Data Studio, or a combination

• At least 1 year of experience with SQL

• At least 1 year of experience working in an Agile environment, including use of Jira

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Associate, Accounting

 

Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Associate, Accounting

 

Wilmington, DE: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Associate, Accounting

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
