Definition of Class

The National Center for Natural Products Research at the University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy is seeking a candidate for a part-time Principal Scientist position in the molecular and mechanistic characterization of botanicals, dietary supplements, and their constituents. The successful candidate will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, advance, and intellectually contribute to various research projects. As a team member, the candidate will manage biological evaluation of botanicals using appropriate in vitro and in vivo model systems to generate robust data for publications, grants, presentations and/or patents. The candidate should have lab-based experience in botanical research that integrates biochemistry, pharmacognosy, and molecular biology.

Minimum Education/Experience

The Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with a strong background in natural product research and a minimum of 6 years of research experience beyond the post-doctoral level. Proficiency and a track record of grant-writing and peer reviewed publications in natural-product-based research is essential.

 

Offers are contingent upon completion of drug and alcohol screening.  Selected candidates must submit and successfully pass the screening prior to employment and placement within the position.
