This position within Enterprise AI Architecture will play a pivotal role in enabling Artificial Intelligence capabilities for The Cigna Group in a reusable, scalable and responsible way. The Enterprise AI Architecture group identifies opportunities for reusable and high-leverage AI capabilities, assesses emerging AI technologies, aligns line of business initiatives, develops strategic roadmaps, consults on AI solution development and delivery, establishes patterns and best practices for enterprise AI, and enables AI prototypes and proofs of technology to demonstrate the art-of-the-possible. This role will be an integral part of delivering strategic AI capabilities that enable uniquely differentiated healthcare products, ultimately helping improve the cost, quality and access to healthcare for Cigna’s clients and customers.
As a Senior Architect, you will engage broadly across Enterprise Architecture, Technology, and Business Operations partners, driving alignment of business vision, technology strategy, and investment portfolio execution. You will engage by initiating, forming, and driving the execution of strategies, roadmaps and architectures, that collectively will enable AI to unlock significant accretive value. This role requires high levels of influence within our business, technology and architecture organizations, extensive business and domain knowledge, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to marry business and technology into a cohesive value-oriented strategy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as internal leadership consultant, trusted advisor, and tech-savvy business leader on AI technologies
- Develop short- and long-term roadmaps, outlooks, and target state architectures for AI that are aligned with strategies and prioritize both business delivery and technical debt reduction
- Develop and drive adoption of architecture frameworks, patterns, standards, and best practices for AI
- Partner with technology and business stakeholders to drive right-sized and timely decisions on AI with well-considered tradeoffs and optionality that advances an aligned technology and business strategy
- Influence and enable business, technology, AI, and digital teams to augment transformation efforts by identifying and piloting AI high-leverage use cases
- Maintain industry and regulatory knowledge on AI to align and evolve internal capabilities and best practices
- Drive programs, initiatives and projects up and down the organizational hierarchy and support RFPs and client presentations by providing business-facing architectural input and ensuring enterprise mindset is present
- Partner and support the AI Center of Enablement and senior technology leaders to drive adoption of AI, leveraging agile, iterative, systems-thinking approaches
- Collaborate with Engineering and Solution Architecture teams on leveraging AI architecture and technology
- Coach and mentor junior architects and technology resources across the enterprise
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus
- 8+ years of experience working in applied technology, engineering or architecture with a specialization in AI
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and negotiation skills across technical and non-technical groups; able to lead by influence and build consensus
- Knowledge of IT strategic planning and capability development; experience implementing technology strategy and roadmaps
- Deep understanding of AI and Generative AI technology, frameworks and tools, and common patterns and best practices with their applications to business operations
- Self-directed and execution focused with a “get things done” attitude
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets; able to “think big” and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype
- Able to process high volumes of complex information, synthesize key themes, and recommend paths forward
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior executives and stakeholders
- Demonstrated continuous improvement and continuous learning mindset
- Ability to foster a culture of openness, transparency, and inclusion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the Healthcare industry, particularly with exposure to benefits configuration, provider network management, claims adjudication and payment processing
- Experience with common Healthcare data/transaction formats and standards, such as HL7, FHIR, EDI, ICD, CPT, etc.
- Experience working with Cloud and hybrid enterprise workloads
- Experience supporting development and deployment of LLM solutions and capabilities
