About the role

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Supervisor, Onsite Services and will work closely with Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

 

Location: Lexington, MA

Schedule: Mon – Fri, ~ 7:30 am – 4 pm

Hourly Rate: $29.00

What we’re looking for  

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry preferred.

  • 3+ years of lab environment work experience or college degree in analytical chemistry required.

  • Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills required.  

  • Covid 19 vaccination required.

  • A detailed understanding and ability to operate in an aseptic environment.

  • Generalized understanding of health and safety hazards in the presence of caustics and acids.

  • Background and experience in using pipettes, pH meters, conductivity meters, densitometers, and spectrophotometers.

  • An understanding of general chemistry techniques including the following: Molar mass, density, weighing and dispensing, filtration, titrations.

  • Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills.

  • High level of customer service skills with the ability to always display a professional can-do demeanor.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet goals.

  • Must be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the confidence to solve problems independently.

  • Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, safety issues, security clearances and medical checkups.

  • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.

 

As a Lab Support Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare media and buffer solutions (weighing, dispensing, mixing, titration, and filtration) and measurement of prepared solutions (pH/conductivity/osmo).

  • Prepare of buffers and media from small scale < 1L to as large as 2000L bulk preps.

  • Manage of chemical and consumables inventory.

  • Maintain organization/lab cleanliness of solution prep room.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Assist with the calibration, trouble shooting, and validation of lab equipment.

  • Maintain laboratornotebook, testing records, or worksheets accordinto established laboratory and manufacturing procedures.
