Job Description

Laboratory Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible to perform duties related to accessioning and specimen management
  • Perform pre-analytical processes within the life cycle of the laboratory specimen: collection, packaging, shipping, receiving, processing, tracking, and archiving
  • Examine samples for accuracy and other requirements (sample type, volume, suitability etc.)
  • Interface with Eurofins DPT clients to resolve specimen issues and contacts client to resolve sample and/or testing related issues or discrepancies
  • Complete correction requests as needed
  • Label samples and deliver them to proper area(s)
  • Retrieve samples for testing, and archive them for storage and testing
  • Perform cleaning duties, equipment daily and PM maintenance and QC recording
  • Perform equipment routine Preventive Maintenance and assist laboratory personnel in calibration of equipment
  • Assist in reagent/media preparation and/or aliquoting
  • Maintain quality records as required
  • Perform weekly and monthly lab inventory
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards, policies and protocols in the lab as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
  • Work closely and communicate with other lab staff to complete daily activities efficiently, contribute to team effort
  • Manage issues and projects; resolve escalated issues as appropriate
  • Demonstrate understanding of Laboratory operations
  • Serve as the trainer for new Lab Technicians or re-training of existing Lab Technicians
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Supports Eurofins DPT’s business philosophy, leadership values, and ethics
  • In order to meet Eurofins DPT’s quality policy and objectives, all employees are expected to meet basic expectations of Eurofins DPT’s quality management system including, but not limited to good workmanship, adherence to standard operational procedures, training, good documentation practices, and accurate recordkeeping.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications :

  • Some laboratory experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and honesty
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of patient, client, employee, and laboratory business
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comply with documents such as internal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and company policies  
  • Keenly attentive to detail
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Clinical laboratory experience with specimen handling preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Basic Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
