Our Geoscience department is continually growing, we are now looking for the right person to join our team as Geoscience Project Manager reporting to the Head of geoscience.

You will be joining a diverse, high-performing team of geoscientists and have an active role in the continual development of the team. The role will allow opportunities to explore innovative technology, develop best practices and push boundaries as we help Vattenfall achieve its vision of transitioning society towards a fossil-free future.

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. The Geoscience department is part of the Offshore Wind Business Unit.
 
 

Your role / what will you do? 

As a Geoscience Project Manager you will focus on collaboratively working with the geophysical and geotechnical specialists to facilitate successful delivery of projects for our wind farm portfolio at all stages of the lifecycle from feasibility, development and design through to construction, operation and decommissioning.

 

This role will expose you to many aspects of the offshore wind journey and your main duties will be to:

  • Represent Geoscience across the project portfolio, able to advise, educate and inform others within and outside the organization
  • Devise budgets, strategies and plans to inform project teams about the Geoscience package and its relationship to projects from other departments
  • Manage interfaces between geoscience and our stakeholders, facilitating discussions and coordinating inputs form technical team colleagues.
  • Plan, manage and deliver Geoscience projects across multiple sites – safely, on time and on budget – to ensure a smooth transition between project phases
  • Proactively engage with project stakeholders (inside and outside Vattenfall) to align strategy and priorities.  This includes collaborating with teams of colleagues, contractors and consultants acting on our behalf
  • Support the development of standard procedures, tools and deliverables to optimize the Geoscience team’s performance


Location  

The location of this position is flexible with Amsterdam (NL), Hamburg (DE), London (UK), or Kolding (DK) being our preferred locations, but for the right candidate we are willing to consider appointment within reasonable commuting distance of any of our European offices.

Qualifications

Your profile / who are you? 

As our Geoscience Project Manager you are able to proactively apply your expertise and are energized by our renewables vision.

You have a geoscience-related background (i.e. geology, geophysics, geotechnics or similar), with project management experience and a collaborative approach to working.  You are motivated and driven to refine and streamline procedures and processes.

 

Next to this you possess a combination of the following:

  • A degree in a geoscience or a related discipline
  • At least five years relevant experience in project management (preferably from the renewables sector) with a recognized project management qualification
  • Proven experience of managing multi-stakeholder relationships over prolonged timescales whilst coordinating mixed teams of coworkers, subcontractors and consultants
  • A thorough knowledge of current geoscience methods and best practices relevant to offshore wind developments
  • A working knowledge of procurement and contract management
  • A broad understanding of best practices in health & safety and environmental compliance (a recognized qualification would be advantageous)
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • The ability and willingness to travel abroad occasionally for short durations when circumstances allow (e.g. to operational sites or other office locations)
