This is a technical supervisor position where you will oversee the design team’s support of depot operations at Tinker AFB. In this role, you will lead a team of design engineers to ensure engineering requests are dispositioned on time, repair and tooling issues are resolved, and engineering changes are processed on time per customer needs. You will develop others to ensure budgets are met while accomplishing Engine Lifecycle Management Team (ELMT) and program milestones.  The manager in this position will have exceptional people and problem-solving skills and be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization. The selected candidate will supervise design engineers and report directly to the Oklahoma City (OKC) Repair Design Engineering (RDE) Manager and will work very closely with design, project, Materials, and structures manager counterparts.

What You Will Do

  • Self-directed with strong leadership skills to influence across the design discipline and continue to develop an improved personal understanding of the technologies, engine systems, business systems, regulations, and business needs of the sector.
  • Manage a technical team of RDE’s and ensure they are fully engaged in supporting the ELMT and Program metrics to ensure part, module and engine delivery issues are resolved, and engineering requests are answered in a timely manner.
  • Leading and supporting overall organizational objectives as well as prioritizing work to ensure critical needs are addressed.  Also, work cohesively with counterparts in E. Hartford and Puerto Rico to ensure alignment across the design discipline and effective task delegation.
  • Driving improvements in design and delivery performance in support of ELMT objectives and PW objectives.  
  • Engaging with vendors and depots to investigate design issues and develop robust solutions.  Also, managing schedule and budget requirements while ensuring adherence to P&W’s design engineering standard work processes.
  • Update Repair Method Work Instructions and Repair templates within Engineering Standard Work to incorporate current best practices and update other documents to support the Design Discipline chief’s Engineering Standard Work continuous improvement efforts affecting OKC and all PW design.
  • Organizing and leading task assignments, including task planning, manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources. Ensure Outsourcing work is completed, reviewed, and approved by the appropriate technical disciplines.
  • Ensure the team is appropriately staffed.  Provide performance feedback and results for the group. Coach, train and develop engineers. Develop and approve proficiency advancement of personnel as well as provide leadership for design engineers in support of Pratt & Whitney’s delivery goals.
  • 20% travel is anticipated.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors in Engineering (STEM) and a minimum of 8+ years of Engineering experience; or an Advanced degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of Engineering experience.
  • US Citizenship due to government contracts.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Engine overhaul and cleaning, inspection, and repair processes experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading and managing a technical team.
  • Previous supervisory experience a plus.
  • Direct interaction with USG customers experience.
  • Engineering technical review equivalent to P&W PL3 or other signature authority.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships.
