We have a 12 Month FTC which can be based in either our Dublin, Galway or Cork offices for a Home Product and Underwriting Specialist. This is a significant development opportunity for an experienced Home Underwriter interested in acquiring in depth understanding of Home insurance risk, exposure, emerging risks, claims trends and the trading environment.
The role holder will assist the Home team in the delivery of new products and to manage maintenance of the existing product set. The role will support the Product Development strategy for Home Insurance and play an active role in the delivery of new products and amendment to existing products.
You will proactively scope, implement and manage the necessary underwriting actions and underwriting controls to underpin delivery of the underwriting strategy and profitability requirements for the Home account. You will support all Aviva home underwriters and to develop underwriting capability within the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support for underwriting referrals across all channels.
- Implementation of underwriting controls and licenses.
- Ensure that compliance and CPC obligations relating to Home Insurance are being adhered to.
- Management of all Product Documentation, Endorsement libraries etc.
- Preparation of monthly and other ad hoc Product Reports.
- Provide support to Product/Underwriting Managers and Portfolio Lead;
- Support the Portfolio Team in the production of reports and MI.
- Support the financial planning and forecasting process within the Home Portfolio team.
- Assist the delivery of new Home products and any major change to existing products.
Skills & Experience:
- Ideally the successful candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent and be CIP qualified.
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills and have full understanding of Ireland general insurance personal lines market for relevant portfolio.
- First class underwriting capabilities and know how.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and its applications.
- Knowledge of existing and emerging claims issues.
- Ability to think long-term strategically and operationally.
- A good knowledge of the Financial Conduct Authority and other relevant regulation and legislation.
- Understanding of risks faced by the function and the controls in place to manage and mitigate the risks
