Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary
Caterpillar IPSD is seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Specialist, Line Checker to support material flow within a CNC machining manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate movement, verification, and availability of materials at the production line. The line checker plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production uptime, and ensuring materials are staged, tracked, and delivered in alignment with manufacturing requirements.

1st Shift: Monday – Friday 6:00AM-2:30PM; start and end times may vary dependent upon business need.

What you will do:
Verify incoming and outgoing materials at designated production lines to ensure accuracy and proper documentation
Monitor and maintain correct part quantities at CNC machining cells to support uninterrupted production
Perform line-side inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records
Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and production teams to address material shortages or delays
Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of all materials and components
Support efficient material flow by confirming proper staging, storage, and delivery practices
Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, line checks, and discrepancies
Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of inventory and material handling issues
Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures related to material handling and production support
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, efficiency, and waste reduction
Communicate material status and issues to supervisors and leadership as needed
Participate in training and cross-functional support as required
Perform additional duties as assigned
What you will have:
Minimum of 6 months of experience in supply chain or inventory management
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with inventory management systems and processes
Solid understanding of inventory control and accuracy practices
Experience in conducting precise and accurate inventory counts
Skilled in operating material handling equipment
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
What would make you a top candidate:
Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas and data analysis tools
Experience working with ERP systems such as PLEX or MAMM
Experience with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing processes
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot inventory discrepancies
Knowledge of industry safety regulations and best practices for warehouse operations
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
