This role will be located at our Loveland, Ohio facility.
We are seeking an experienced Principal Supplier QualityEngineer to oversee supplier quality assurance activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all supplied materials and components meet our organization’s quality standards, while fostering strong relationships with suppliers. This position involves leadership, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Quality Assurance
• Develop and implement supplier quality standards and processes specific to aerospace propulsion systems.
• Evaluate and approve suppliers through on-site audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap.
• Establish quality agreements with suppliers to define expectations, requirements, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Supplier Performance Monitoring
• Monitor supplier performance using metrics such as defect rates, on-time delivery, and adherence to specifications.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
• Work with suppliers to implement preventive measures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Component Qualification and NPI Support
• Oversee the qualification of propulsion components, including machined parts, raw materials and outside service providers.
• Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring supplier readiness and validating first article inspections (FAI).
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure suppliercapabilities align with design and manufacturing requirements.
Compliance and Documentation
• Ensure supplier compliance with aerospace propulsion standards, such as AS9102 for FAI, Nadcap for special processes, and other relevant specifications.
• Maintain thorough documentation of supplier audits, quality reports, and corrective action plans.
• Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory inspections.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier-related challenges.
• Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to enhance their processes and capabilities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers regarding quality-related issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering (or a related field).
• 15+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or propulsion industry.
