About the role

The Role:

 The Principal Product Designer (PD) is a senior-level strategic role responsible for establishing and advancing Product Design as a core competency at iA. The primary responsibility of this role is to drive the effective use of prototypes, proofs-of-concept, hi- and low-fidelity wireframes, MVPs, and other tools and techniques to validate customer value, usability, feasibility, and viability early in the product lifecycle before full-scale development. This role requires a highly experienced designer with deep expertise in UI/UX across multiple platforms, including cloud, on-premise, and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI). The PD will lead the creation of intuitive, user-friendly, and scalable design solutions that enhance the overall user experience across the entire product portfolio.  

 

What you’ll do: 

Product Discovery:  

  • Lead Product Discovery efforts to establish and refine the use of prototypes, POCs, MVPs, and wireframes to ensure early validation of customer value, usability, feasibility, and viability. 
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering in customer discovery sessions to align design decisions with business and technical constraints. 
  • Rapidly prototype and test concepts with users to gather actionable insights and refine designs. 
  • Effectively present and communicate design rationale to influence stakeholders across all levels. 

UI/UX and Interaction Design Mastery: 

  • Lead the creation of unified, user-centered designs across on-prem, cloud, and hardware interfaces. 
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using tools such as Figma, Axure, InVision, and Adobe XD. 
  • Define and implement best practices for enterprise UI frameworks (Material UI, Fluent, etc.). 
  • Enhance usability within existing UI structures while modernizing design approaches for new cloud-based products. 

Research, Testing, and Data-Driven Decision Making: 

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and ethnographic studies to ensure designs meet customer needs. 
  • Utilize A/B testing, heatmap analysis, and behavioral analytics to inform design iterations and improve adoption. 
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative data into insights that shape product design and enhance user engagement. 

Technical Acumen & Systems Thinking: 

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless implementation of UI/UX designs. 
  • Understand front-end development frameworks (React, Angular) and their impact on design execution. 
  • Work within existing legacy UI frameworks to enhance usability without requiring complete system overhauls. 
  • Drive consistency across cloud, on-premise, and embedded UI (HMI) interfaces. 

 

 

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong background in complex, multi-platform enterprise solutions. 
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmacy automation, healthcare technology, or a related regulated industry. 
  • Proven expertise in designing B2B SaaS, industrial automation, or highly regulated software products. 
  • Deep experience with user research methodologies, usability testing, and data-driven design improvements. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders. 
  • Ability to balance strategic design thinking with hands-on execution. 
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10%. 

 

 

Even better if you have:

  • Experience designing embedded UI (HMI) or legacy client-server applications. 
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven user experiences and automation in UX design. 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.

Compensation:

 

The estimated base annual salary range for this position is $119,895.05 to $ 162,210.95, though a candidate’s base annual salary shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience. This position may additionally be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
