The Maritime Capability (MARCAP) is a new skywave over the horizon radar system dedicated to maritime and ground wide area surveillance. MARCAP incorporates system architecture features which deliver a new level of non-queued low velocity target detection sensitivity and wide area semi-autonomous surveillance. MARCAP incorporates and help to greatly expand the maritime sensitivity and surveillance of over-the-horizon radar. The key technology features include low phase noise high power amplifier hardware, wideband arbitrary high spectral purity digital waveform generators, wideband multifunction direct digital receivers, advanced space-time adaptive signal processing, stare mode operation, and low threshold track-before detect tracking algorithms. MARCAP will be the first of kind as a skywave over-the-horizon radar dedicated to maritime and ground surveillance.
This position is on a service contract with a set (non-negotiable) hourly rate of $37.69/hour. In addition, a Health & Welfare benefit is paid at $6.00/hour.
What You Will Do
- Perform systems level operation and monitoring of ROTHR/MARCAP transmitter site equipment. Will perform organizational, preventative and intermediate level maintenance on ROTHR transmitter equipment. This equipment consists of, but is not limited to, Solid-State High-Powered-Amplifiers (HPA), Power-Amplifier-Power Supplies (PAPS), Phased Array Antennae (Log Periodic HF), Digital Beam-formers and Exciters, RF Hardware, Digital Hardware, Microprocessor based controllers, Minicomputers, Microcomputers, and peripheral equipment.
- Work typically requires comprehensive technical knowledge to resolve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence in selecting and using the appropriate resources and test equipment.
- requires application of methods outlined by others to support development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements, conducting tests or experiments and redesigns as necessary; and record and evaluates data and report findings. Participate in training provided by outside technical/engineering Position includes frequent contact with and assistance to engineering and other professionals within the ROTHR/MARCAP program during testing, data collection, and enhancement evolutions. Support of this assistance personnel.
- Receives technical guidance and tasking from supervisor or higher-level technician and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Candidate will perform all other related duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or Graduation in Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technology from technical institute above high school or Military Technical School with minimum curriculum length of six months.
- Must have three years of related experience. Ability to use test equipment and systematic procedures for troubleshooting, overhaul, fault isolation, and repair of major electronic systems comprised of receiver and transmitter functions.
- Must have a clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
Qualifications We Prefer
- At least one year of technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications, radar
