The Maritime Capability (MARCAP) is a new skywave over the horizon radar system dedicated to maritime and ground wide area surveillance. MARCAP incorporates system architecture features which deliver a new level of non-queued low velocity target detection sensitivity and wide area semi-autonomous surveillance. MARCAP incorporates and help to greatly expand the maritime sensitivity and surveillance of over-the-horizon radar. The key technology features include low phase noise high power amplifier hardware, wideband arbitrary high spectral purity digital waveform generators, wideband multifunction direct digital receivers, advanced space-time adaptive signal processing, stare mode operation, and low threshold track-before detect tracking algorithms. MARCAP will be the first of kind as a skywave over-the-horizon radar dedicated to maritime and ground surveillance.
What You Will Do
·Performs routine and non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity to support the ROTHR/MARCAP receive operation. Requires the ability to perform operation and maintenance at the system level including transmit (or receive) equipment, antenna arrays, assorted servers, switches, routers, workstations, and peripherals.
·Monitor and evaluate overall system performance on a daily basis. Provide analysis and recommendation to site supervisor/manager concerning system operation including a synopsis of corrective action taken, recommendations for resolution or escalation, if needed. Plan, perform or supervise system and sub-system level testing, correct deficiencies independently or through assignment of junior personnel, validate test and troubleshooting procedures, make recommendations to correct or enhance existing procedures, recommend new procedures where needed. May require using testing and operational procedures that require adaption or modification for new operational or test equipment Select, set-up and operate equipment, measure and record resulting data, analyze data and prepare test reports. Plan assignments for junior personnel. Provide ongoing training to junior personnel in system/sub-system operation; testing; troubleshooting; and repair, including existing and new test equipment selection and operation. Develop and prepare block diagrams, flow diagrams. Reference schematic diagrams, parts lists, system and equipment specifications and technical manuals. Ensures maintenance work orders are accurate and complete. Monitors ROTHR/MARCAP operational schedule to ensure maintenance/developmental activities are scheduled and performed to minimize required nonoperational time.
·Crosstrain with ROTHR Engineering Technician IV to ensure there will be no lapse in technical leadership between both systems during times of vacancies.
·Liaisons with Operations Control Center (OCC) watch supervisor and developmental engineering personnel for scheduled maintenance/enhancement period support and resolution of unscheduled outages. Position includes frequent contact with and assistance to engineering and other professionals within the ROTHR/MARCAP program during testing, data collection, and enhancement evolutions. Support of this assistance requires application of methods outlined by others to support development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements, conducting tests or experiments and redesigns as necessary; and record and evaluates data and report findings. Participate in training provided by outside technical/engineering personnel and ensure training is provided to junior personnel. Performs all other related duties as assigned and required.
