Data Engineer III 

As Omnicell strives to position itself as a premier digital healthcare company, the Data Engineer III is an experienced professional who will play a key role in support of those efforts by leading, creating, and extending the Omnicell 340B products. This person is a highly skilled data engineer who can apply industry and corporate best practices to design and build data processing and storage applications. This person applies their practical and theoretical knowledge from Computer Science and previous experience in healthcare or a related industry. This person works as a part of a team to design and develop new products as well as maintain the Omnicell 340B current portfolio.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understand how Omnicell solutions meet our customers' needs and how our suite of products is used across the continuum of care.
  • Work as part of a Product Engineering team in designing, developing, and optimizing data processing systems and pipelines used to populate data into transactional databases, data warehouses, data marts, or other data repositories.
  • Build high-performance scalable data warehouses and data products.
  • Analyze and correct SQL Server issues in real time like High Database Usage, Blocks, Job failures, capacity shortages.
  • Monitor Database health, performance and optimizing it to make sure it operates effectively.
  • Manage Database backup and recovery efforts.
  • Perform routine and proactive database maintenance tasks, such as index tuning and data purging.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data integrity errors.
  • Adhere to software development design standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software.

 

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Expert experience in database administration, database performance, indexing, high availability, disaster recovery, Failover clustering, Replication.
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Expertise with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), high-speed data transfers.
  • Strong data analytics, quantitative skills, problem-solving skills, comfortable navigating data-driven business environments
  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle management
  • Self-motivated, independent worker who is driven to deliver results without close management.
  • Ability to communicate well and work with other developers and can foster team and peer loyalty.
  • Encourages constructive design discussion with the team.
  • Be able to work efficiently in a high pressured and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent prioritization skills to deliver multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Sense of urgency and adherence to deliverable dates
  • Must have experience with large volume of data.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/Information Systems Management
  • 5+ years as a SQL Server DBA / Data Engineer in a large enterprise environment
  • 4+ years of SSIS, SSAS, SSRS experience
  • 3+ years of experience with writi
