This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. 

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for the definition and implementation of the EEE parts strategy for Lunar Avionics. You will lead the Avionics Hardware team in the identification, qualification, testing, and maintenance of EEE parts. You will support our Avionics teams in the design of human-rated, space flight systems. You will work to ensure a consistent approach to EEE parts selection across the vehicle to ensure that the functional, performance, and safety needs of the system correspond to industry standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading Avionics Hardware in the identification, qualification, testing, and maintenance of EEE parts
  • Developing the Lunar Permanence EEE parts strategy for the Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program
  • Supporting Lunar Avionics in the development of human-rated space vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in EEE parts engineering for avionics systems
  • Advanced knowledge of EEE component selection, qualification, and testing processes
  • Experience conducting component failure analysis and develop mitigation plans
  • Familiarity with relevant industry and avionics standards such as MIL-STD-1580, ESCC, and ECSS-Q-ST-60.
  • Knowledge of space radiation effects and mitigation strategies
  • Experience with parts obsolescence management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S./M.A. degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
  • Experience working in a safety-critical environment
  • Basic project management skills
