We are looking for fluid sub-assembly technical lead for a crewed Lunar Lander.  You will be responsible for the full lifecycle from design to flight of a fluid subsystem incorporating pumps, heat exchangers, and valves.  As part of your role, you will mentor and provide technical direction to a small team. You will plan out your components schedules, manage risks and develop mitigation plans for your hardware.  You will work with both internal and external suppliers to design, build, test and analyze components that will take us to the moon!

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.  

 

Qualifications:  

  • B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related technical subject area 

  • 8+ years of experience in cryogenic system design incorporating one or more of the following components: heat exchangers, pumps, or combustion devices 

  • Experience developing, integrating and certifying new cryogenic aerospace systems for flight  

  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to small teams of early to mid-career engineers 

  • Excellent fundamental understanding cryogenic fluid behavior and 1D flow analysis 

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities 

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum 

  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel 

 

Desired:  

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area 

  • Experience designing fluid systems in upper stages and spacecraft 

  • Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion or fluid system
