Job Summary
The Student Support Specialist provides support to the educational team as well as directly attending to certain, specified needs of the students. Working under the supervision of certified staff, the Student Support Specialist provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to support learning, ensure safety and prevent injury.
Job Responsibilities
- Under the direction of certified staff, coaches a student towards established goals which increase academic success and decrease behavioral disruptions.
- Provides specialized, individual, academic support and instruction as outlined by the Individualized Education Program.
- Provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
- Supports behavior management programs implemented by certified staff.
- Works collaboratively with assigned teachers, clinicians, and other support staff.
- Assists the program with routine clerical duties.
- Participates in staff, team, and unit meetings and committees as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in an educational or clinical setting
- Valid driver's license
- Familiarity with behavior mana
