We are looking for a Sr. Environmental Specialist  to join our NAF team in Freeport, TX.

Working with our team of waste, air and water specialists. You will oversee and direct environmental compliance programs, environmental management system, and LDAR program at the BASF Freeport Site. Working with our team of waste, air and water specialists. You will support, facilitate and implement environmental programs designed to assure compliance with corporate, federal, state and local regulatory requirements.  This position reports to the Environmental Manager in Freeport Texas.

As a Sr. Environmental Specialist, you create chemistry by...

•    Providing technical and regulatory expertise to ensure environmental compliance of air, water, and waste programs associated with federal, state, and local permits as well as company requirements at the Freeport site. Interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
•    Ensuring compliance of the site Leak Detection and Repair and Potable Water System program by coordinating the testing and reporting of requirements between BASF operations, EHS personnel and contractors.
•    Working with site EHS specialists to develop an environmental compliance program. Assist specialist with interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements If necessary. prepare applications for environmental permits and reports for air emissions. 
•    Acting as the lead SME for the BASF Environmental Compliance Software (Dakota). 
•    Providing strategic leadership and work with management on identified EHS issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture.
•    Successfully engaging across the organization, you will proactively identify and prioritize opportunities, develop sustainable solutions, execute operational plans, and effectively manage business relationships designed to champion continuous improvement and overall environmental performance.

If you...

•    Bachelor's degree: (Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Science, or Science Degree) is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
•    Experience with dealing with EPA programs, specifically Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) and Potable Water a strong plus.
•    Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, accept responsibility and follow through without close supervision combined with self-starter and initiative
•    Detail-orientation with excellent organization skills; effective communicators, both orally and written
•    Excellent interactive skills with regulatory agencies, operations, and management
•    Willing/able to serve as on-call environmental liaison on a rotating basis.
