Purpose
This is a hybrid role with U.S. Credit and Special Accounts Management (“SAM”). As a valued leader on the team, you will be exposed to deal flow that is diverse in terms of industry, structure, geographic area and business risks.
The SAM portfolio is comprised of underperforming U.S. accounts generally risk rated CCC+ and lower, that typically require a restructure, refinancing or in limited circumstances the enforcement of security. You will perform in depth review and analysis of Corporate, Commercial and Real Estate Problem loans and provide recommendations to the various credit risk approval committees. Tasks include, but are not limited to account monitoring, risk analysis, deal structuring, pricing, negotiation with stakeholders, preparation of credit presentations and presentation at senior credit committee. The incumbent will interface with clients directly, where appropriate, in partnership with the Director and front-line Banking officers.
In addition to SAM, the incumbent will be assigned a portfolio of accounts within U.S. Credit and will be responsible for the underwriting process on said accounts; including adjudicating on requests within the Senior Manager authority level as applicable and making credit recommendations to more senior members of the team. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the portfolio, risk rating integrity, and compliance and regulatory review.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director, you will manage a portfolio of assigned accounts, including responsibility for:
- Day-to-Day management, preparation and presentation of credit presentations and client negotiations, to mitigate the risk of losses to the Bank.
- Manage the agency function for accounts where the Bank is the Agent for a syndicate of banks.
- Ensure annual reviews and quarterly monitoring reviews are completed when due.
- Maintain day to day contact with customers.
- Maintain relationships with financial and legal advisors, whose services may be engaged during the management of certain accounts.
- Provide recommendations to senior executives and present / participate in discussions at Corporate Senior Credit Committee as required.
- Develop a high degree of industry knowledge / expertise and ensure the ongoing quality of the portfolio through review of industry publications and the assessment of financial reporting packages.
- Prepare and process provision recommendations.
- Manage a Credit Portfolio of Corporate accounts within U.S. Credit.
- Ensure the proper application of credit policies and procedures.
